JOB SUMMARY:

The Human Resource Director will plan, lead, direct, develop, and coordinate the policies, activities, and staff of the Human Resource (HR) department, ensuring legal compliance and implementation of the organizations mission and talent strategy.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associates degree or higher in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • At least five years of human resource management experience preferred.
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP highly preferred.
  • Proficient in current computer systems(s), including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, effective time management, ability to multi-task while still paying close attention to detail; meticulous.
  • Ability to take initiative and to see projects through to completion.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and compassionately with other directors and staff in a fast growing, fast paced, and changing work environment.
  • Team player who shares and participates in the vision and goals of ASLH.
  • Supervisory and leadership skills a plus.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations HRIS and talent management systems.

 

JOB RELATIONSHIPS: Reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer/Administrator; Directly supervises HR team members.

 

DUTIES/JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff in the department.
  2. Oversees the daily workflow of the department.
  3. Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
  4. Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
  5. Collaborates with senior leadership to understand the organizations goals and strategy related to staffing, recruiting, and retention.

 

DUTIES/JOB RESPONSIBILITIES continued:

 

  1. Plans, leads, develops, coordinates, and implements policies, processes, training, initiatives, and surveys to support the organizations human resource compliance and strategy needs.
  2. Administers or oversees the administration of human resource programs including, but not limited to, compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
  3. Identifies staffing and recruiting needs; develops and executes best practices for hiring and talent management.
  4. Conducts research and analysis of organizational trends including review of reports and metrics from the organizations human resource information system (HRIS) or talent management system.
  5. Monitors and ensures the organizations compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews and modifies policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  6. Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law; applies this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources to upper management.
  7. Develops and implements departmental budget.
  8. Facilitates professional development, training, and certification activities for HR staff.
  9. Creates, implements and performs new employee orientation as required.
  10. Responsible for all HR related employee education as mandated by federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  11. Performs other duties as required.
