Acadia St. Landry Hospital (ASLH) is pleased to announce that Benjamin “Benji” Bellard has been approved for an additional six-year term on the Acadia St. Landry Hospital Board of Commissioners, extending his service through October 2032.
Bellard serves as the hospital’s St. Landry Parish representative on the six-member Board of Commissioners. The Board is comprised of four representatives from Acadia Parish, one representative from St. Landry Parish, and one representative from the hospital’s medical staff.
In addition to his reappointment, Bellard was selected by his fellow commissioners to serve as Chairman of the Acadia St. Landry Hospital Board of Commissioners during the Board’s August 2026 meeting. His appointment as Chairman places him in a leadership role as the hospital continues to advance its mission of providing quality healthcare to the communities it serves.
With Bellard’s current term set to expire in October 2026, District 11 Parish Councilman Timmy Lejeune submitted Bellard’s name to St. Landry Parish Government for consideration of an additional six-year term. The recommendation was approved by the Parish Government’s committee at its September 2 meeting and subsequently advanced to the full Council for consideration. On September 16, 2026, the St. Landry Parish Council unanimously approved the appointment without objection.
Bellard’s service on the ASLH Board dates back to 2010, when he was first appointed to complete the remaining term of former Commissioner Franklin “Frank” Cormier, who passed away in November 2009. Since that initial appointment, Bellard has continued to serve the hospital, its patients, employees, and the communities of Acadia and St. Landry parishes.
ASLH CEO Michael J. LeJeune expressed his appreciation for Bellard’s continued service and leadership.
