As we come to the close of another year, I would like to take a moment to reflect on the progress, challenges, and accomplishments at Acadia St. Landry Hospital and to thank the community we are proud to serve.
The year began with a January snowstorm that tested our readiness and resilience. Despite difficult conditions, our staff remained committed to ensuring patients received safe, reliable care. That same dedication carried us through a year of growth and improvement.
We expanded access to care by opening The Point Pediatric Therapy Clinic, allowing us to offer speech, physical, and occupational therapy to our youngest patients. We welcomed Dr. Andre Pinac to lead our wound care services and added Morgan Thomas, PMHNP-BC, to our rural health clinic to expand mental health services in our community. These additions strengthen our ability to provide comprehensive care close to home.
Patient safety and experience continued to be a top priority. Throughout the year, we made multiple safety improvements across our campus, from leveling concrete surfaces to remodeling the front registration area to improve patient privacy. These enhancements reflect our ongoing commitment to providing a safe, respectful, and welcoming environment for everyone who walks through our doors.
Community involvement remained central to our mission. We were proud to host events such as the Church Point Halloween Trunk or Treat, the 2025 Thensted Center Health Fair, and a Thanksgiving food drive, while also representing Acadia St. Landry Hospital at numerous state and local events. Additionally, we facilitated the acquisition of Briggs Family Dentistry into Acadiana Smiles to help ensure dental care remains accessible and locally operated for our residents.
We were also honored to be voted “Best Hospital” in Acadiana for the second consecutive year. This is an achievement that belongs to our staff, whose dedication and compassion make a difference every day.
Just as importantly, we made a deliberate effort this year to recognize the people behind the care. We were proud to roll out our first DAISY Award, honoring extraordinary nurses who go above and beyond for patients and families. We also increased the space we dedicate to celebrating our team, making staff recognition a consistent part of how we communicate, with a meaningful portion of our social media focused on spotlighting employees across departments. From clinical teams to the behind-the-scenes staff who keep everything running, our people are the reason Acadia St. Landry Hospital feels personal, dependable, and rooted in this community.
Looking ahead, significant progress continues on plans for a new hospital. This year, we completed the Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) process and selected Lemoine as the contractor for the project. Our in-house hospital team has devoted countless hours to planning and preparation with our architectural team, Grace Designs, formerly Grace Hebert Curtis Architects. We are making decisions with one goal in mind: a stronger, more sustainable hospital that can continue to serve this community for decades. The planning completed this year positions us well for the next steps, and we’re encouraged by the progress. We are approaching a point where we’ll be able to share meaningful updates, and we’re grateful for the community’s continued support as we build toward what’s next.
