Tracy M. David, BSN, RN, WCC, Named Acadia St. Landry Hospital’s First DAISY Award Honoree

Acadia St. Landry Hospital is proud to announce Tracy M. David, BSN, RN, WCC, as the hospital’s first-ever DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses recipient. The award was presented on May 14, 2025, during a special ceremony held as part of the hospital’s National Hospital Week celebrations.

Tracy is a member of the hospital’s Wound Care team, known for her expertise, compassion, and dedication to patient care. In addition to her daily impact on patients and colleagues, Tracy recently earned her Wound Care Certified (WCC) credential, demonstrating her commitment to professional growth and the highest standards of clinical excellence.

The DAISY Award is an international program that honors nurses who exemplify exceptional care, going above and beyond in both clinical skill and compassionate service. Tracy was selected by her peers for her ability to make every patient feel seen, supported, and cared for—qualities that embody the heart of nursing.

“Tracy is the kind of nurse every patient hopes for,” said Garrett Higginbotham, Director of Nursing. “She brings deep knowledge and genuine empathy to her work, and she never hesitates to lend a hand or a kind word. She’s a role model on our team, and we are thrilled to recognize her with this well-deserved honor.”

The award presentation was a highlight of Hospital Week at Acadia St. Landry Hospital—a time set aside to celebrate the dedication and compassion of the entire healthcare team. Surrounded by coworkers, leadership, and supporters, Tracy received a certificate of recognition, a DAISY Award pin, and the Healer’s Touch sculpture—a hand-carved statue from Zimbabwe that represents the profound impact of nurses around the world.

As the hospital’s first DAISY honoree, Tracy sets the tone for a new tradition of celebrating the contributions of nurses at Acadia St. Landry Hospital.
